The beginning of 2017 is less than two weeks away, which has got me thinking about new things I want to learn. The list is endless, but I decided to narrow it down to five items, 1. for the sake of staying sane, and 2. to get the best results possible. 😉
My goals for next year is as follows:
- Learn more about painting with watercolor: Even though I’ve been using watercolor for as long as I can remember, it wasn’t until recently that I started refining my technique. Instagram has been an excellent teacher so far, especially when it comes to painting florals.
- Learn copperplate or spencerian-style calligraphy: This has been on my to-do list for almost a year now… I just kept putting it off because I didn’t know where to find resources. Turns out, I had a book with a practice guide on my bookshelf all along. *face palm* The pictures you see in this post are of one of my first practice sheets. Don’t get excited yet… I traced those letters!
- Learn how to create and execute an fancy invitation suites from beginning to end: I know how to create basic suites, but when it comes to fancy things like gold foil and letterpress, I just don’t have any tried and true connections yet. My goal this year is to build a resource list for myself of companies I can partner with for this type of thing, and start offering my services to couples for real. Please, let me know if you have recommendations. They don’t have to be local to the Seattle-area!
- Get a new profile picture: The one I have now is probably 2-3 years old. My boyfriend took it with my phone, in front of my parents’ garage. My hair is shorter now, and I probably have a few more wrinkles. It’s time for an update!
What are your goals for 2017, and how do you plan on taking that first step?
